Education Committee

Mission Statement

The Northside Community Council Education Committee has been established in order that the community can partner with Cincinnati Public Schools, in particular to:

  • Educate our children by supporting parents and being a partner in school governance
  • Help parents become involved in their children's education
  • Develop a community-wide commitment to improving schools
  • Provide a vehicle for individual concerned citizens, businesses, and community organizations to participate in the educational process
  • Ensure that the educational process in being followed by working closely with the Leadership Decision Making Committees (LSDMC) of each school and hold the schools accountable to our community

Our activities range from speaking up at Cincinnati Public School Board meetings to honoring local principals for their outstanding work.  We are behind a city-wide effort to promote “green school” construction as CPS builds new schools.  One of our goals for the 2004-5 school year is to recruit volunteer greeters at Chase, Kirby Road, and Schwab schools as part of a parent-friendliness initiative.

The Education Committee received an “Extra Mile Award” in 2004 from Parents for Public Schools.

Meetings

  Monday, March 22nd, 6:00 pm.

The Education Committee meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 pm, McKie Recreation Center, 1655 Chase Avenue.  However, we are flexible and can meet at another time.
